Angela Merkel in Prague
Angela Merkel in Prague
*Angela Merkel in Prague.* *In the first live interview in the Czech Republic. With Tomas Lindner on the transformation of democracy in Germany and Europe.* For an unprecedented sixteen years, Angela Merkel as Chancellor has led Germany and the whole of Europe through serious crises. Financial, refugee, war, pandemic. Writing a memoir about it all, as she admitted in a recent interview with Barack Obama, was more challenging than she thought. In the resulting autobiography, Freedom, she shows how the decisions that shaped our times were made and brings to life the inner workings of political power. For the first time, she also details how her youth spent in the communist part of Germany shaped and influenced her. In an interview with Respekt, she follows up the extensive biography. Angela Merkel's autobiography has been published in Czech translation by the publishing house Práh, which is a partner of the event. The book has had two reprints since its publication and will also be available for purchase during the evening. *Practical information:* - The interview will be conducted in German with translation into Czech.
